Albireo Energy Account Executive Andrew Boyle is no stranger to putting out fires. Literally. Before supporting Albireo customers at the company’s Pacific Northwest Division, Andrew served our country as a firefighter with the U.S. Air Force for over six years.
During that time, Andrew was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and served as Crew Chief on various fire apparatus. In that capacity, Andrew responded to a wide range of emergencies while also leading and training rescue teams and fireground mechanics. Building on this experience, Andrew additionally dedicated over nine years as a firefighter, driver operator, and EMT in the role of Commander for the Navy Region Northwest.
“In responding to a variety of emergency situations, I learned how to work with all kinds of people and personnel,” Andrew says. “From four-star generals to that person making a 3:00 a.m. emergency call, I had the opportunity to help people from all walks of life. That experience translates directly to my day-to-day role at Albireo Energy.”
Once a vital member of a firefighting division in the Air Force, Andrew is now an integral part of the Albireo Energy team. He calls on his unique skill set as he helps customers implement innovative energy management and building automation solutions that drive operational efficiency.
From Military Service to Customer Service
Along with his interpersonal skills, Andrew brings to his role as Account Executive serving the Greater Seattle region a demonstrated ability to assess the situation, respond quickly, and address complex problems with customized solutions. What led him to the military has also led him to Albireo Energy: a service mindset focused on protecting people and property.
Andrew calls on his passion to help people in his daily interactions. “When I speak with a customer, I’m focused on learning about their needs, understanding their challenges and pain points, as well as their goals,” he explains. “A lot of what I do is about listening and understanding the situation.”
By identifying customers’ unique needs, Andrew can provide tailored strategies and solutions that deliver results.
“The work I do at Albireo, collaborating with clients to customize solutions, appeals to the part of my brain that enjoys solving puzzles,” he says. “I’m helping our customers navigate their options, find the best path forward with the right technology and approach, and improve the efficiency, performance, safety, and comfort of their buildings.”
For Andrew, seeing the tangible results from the solutions he helps coordinate is incredibly rewarding. “At the end of the day, I’m still helping people solve problems,” he says. “That’s meaningful work.”
A Team Approach to Solving Problems
Andrew sees parallels with his military service in the team-based culture of Albireo Energy, as well.
“In the Air Force, I had to rely on my team in responding to emergencies,” he says. “I knew they had my back, and they knew I had theirs. It’s a similar culture at Albireo Energy. If I have a question about a solution or need more in-depth expertise about a specific product or technology, I know I can turn to the engineers and product managers who work alongside me. It’s very much a collaborative environment.”
Andrew adds that he knows he always has access to the tools he needs to provide the best customer service and support possible.
“In delivering for my customers, I can tap into the full resources and knowledge pool of the entire company,” he explains. “But I also have the autonomy to make decisions that benefit local customers here in the Pacific Northwest and meet their specific needs.”
Leveraging Skills While Learning New Ones
Complementing his military background, Andrew also brings experience in new business development, customer service, and program management across multiple industries, including automotive, industrial tools, and climate controls. When the opportunity to work with Albireo Energy arose, Andrew sensed his skill set would be a good match.
“When I reached out about the position at Albireo Energy, it became immediately clear that the company recognizes and values the professional and life experiences I bring to the table,” he says. “They understand that the interpersonal and problem-solving skills I developed in the military and in other industries would translate seamlessly to my role with the company.”
Andrew acknowledges that he has more to learn, and that he continues to expand his knowledge on the job every day. Indeed, this continual learning process is another aspect of his work he finds very rewarding.
“The company gives me the tools to grow,” he adds, “while also giving me the freedom to use the skills I already have.”
