Albireo Energy Expands Its Southern Footprint With the Powers Acquisition

Powers of Oklahoma, Mississippi / Louisiana has joined Albireo Energy. The deal adds 130 building automation professionals, six offices across three states, and a customer list that includes university campuses and hospital systems.

What the Powers Acquisition Adds in the South

The acquisition covers three regional Powers divisions and strengthens Albireo Energy’s position in a region shaped by rapid new construction.

Powers was established in 2020 and now employs 130 people across six offices: Jackson and Bay St. Louis in Mississippi, New Orleans and Lafayette in Louisiana, and Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The team designs and services Siemens building automation systems for commercial, education, healthcare, and industrial facilities.

That work has earned Powers a client roster spanning local universities, hospitals, and important social and cultural institutions. Hospitals and campuses run on tight schedules and thin tolerance for downtime, which rewards contractors who are familiar with the buildings and the region.

Three things arrive with the team:

  • Regional reach: Six offices across Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Louisiana put crews close to customers in a fast-building region.
  • Mission-critical experience: Powers built its business in healthcare, higher education, and industrial plants where building systems carry real operational weight.
  • Siemens depth: The team’s Siemens platform expertise extends Albireo Energy’s controls capability for both retrofit and new construction projects.

Meet Troy Abell, Vice President and General Manager

Troy Abell leads the Powers team as vice president and general manager. He spent nearly 30 years at Siemens, first as a system specialist and project engineer, then as an account executive for the final 20 years of that run.

He retired from Siemens and started over. During the height of COVID-19, Abell and his partners, Alan Hope and Joey Necaise, founded Powers of Mississippi. The company gained momentum on the strength of its commitment to customers and employees, and it grew well past what the three founders had first mapped out.

Abell framed the alliance with Albireo Energy as a great opportunity: “We’re excited to build on Powers’ strengths and legacy of serving customers in the region while accelerating growth. Albireo Energy shares our commitment to customer focus, operational excellence and investing in our people.”

What Comes Next for Customers and Future Partners

Abell says the decision came down to fit. Several organizations had approached Powers over the years, and the founders held out for one whose priorities and culture lined up with their own. Albireo Energy’s focus on serving customers well and supporting the employees who make that possible is what moved the conversation forward.

For customers, the practical change is range. Powers built its reputation as a first-choice provider for healthcare, higher education, and commercial clients. The alignment with Albireo Energy extends those capabilities into areas where the team had limited experience, including data center solutions, which support more complex projects and customers with growing technical demands.

Abell added that “Together, we are well positioned to deliver greater value to customers and to expand our footprint across the region.”

Disclaimer: This acquisition does not include the Power’s Arkansas regional division.
